Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton adamantly refuted the accusation that she accepted donations from the fossil fuel industry at an event in Purchase, New York.
Yahoo News reports that Clinton bumped heads with Greenpeace activist Eva Resnick-Day while shaking hands at the campus of SUNY Purchase College on Thursday (Mar. 31). The incident occurred just after 20 Bernie Sanders supporters shouted in unison “If she wins, we lose,” before walking out.
Resinick-Day, who isn’t a Sanders supporter, thanked Clinton for her promise of fighting climate change, and later asked if she will reject donations from fossil fuel companies. Clinton’s frank reaction sent off a warning to the Sanders campaign.

“I have money from people who work for fossil fuel companies,” Clinton said in a video posted and later confirmed by Greenpeace. “I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about that,” Clinton added, pointing her finger at the questioner. “I’m sick of it.”
Both Clinton and Sanders have acknowledged donations from individuals within fossil fuel companies in the past. Other reports claim Clinton has accepted anywhere from $330,000 to nearly a million from oil and gas company employees. But Clinton bashed her younger critics who have rallied behind Sanders. The adopted-New York native claimed millennials “won’t listen to anybody else” and didn’t want to hear “the contrast between my experience, my plans, my vision, what I know I can get done and what my opponent is promising.”
Meanwhile, Sanders has shown confidence about his chances in the New York primary. Speaking at a rally in the South Bronx Thursday, he told reporters he is off to a “good start.” There is currently a 12-point gap in a favorable poll, with Clinton taking 52 percent of the vote.
Sanders is a Brooklyn native, while the state is considered to be Clinton’s political home.
