Rapper Rich Homie Quan digs himself a deeper hole after his comments about of what happened during VH1’s Hip Hop Honors performance.

The Atlanta rapper issued (what appeared to be) a sincere apology, but instead of taking the L and moving on, Quan is now blaming a teleprompter malfunction for his error. Then his next statement just made things worse. The ATL native also defended himself by saying he grew up listening to OutKast, T.I. and Kilo Ali.

Quan said the only Notorious B.I.G. song he really knew was “Juicy.”

As expected, the hip hop community is in an uproar. Compton’s The Game and Problem both took issue to Quan’s knowledge of hip hop history during an interview with TMZ and corrected him about his use of the word “Alamo” in the song.
