There was violent unrest in Milwaukee over the weekend after a 23-year-old man named Sylville K. Smith was fatally shot by police at a traffic stop. The Police Chief, Edward Flynn, said that the officer who fired appeared to have been acting “within lawful bounds,” according to the Huffington Post. While a statement of that nature isn’t surprising coming from police after such a tragedy, he might actually be right this time.

Reports say that Sylville K. Smith actually had a gun, which he pointed toward police. It may even show in the video. So are protests and subsequent violent outbursts misguided this time around?
