New reports in the investigation of Prince’s death has found a new discovery.

Sunday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that pills marked as hydrocodone (also known commonly as Vicodin), actually contained another druge, fentanyl. It’s a synthetic opioid described as being 100 times more powerful than morphine.

Prince did not possess a prescription for fentanyl, investigators still aren’t sure how the 57-year-old megastar took fentanyl. However, they are leaning toward the theory that he took the pills not knowing they contained the drug.

Four months after Prince’s death, investigators still have of questions about his death, in hopes of solving the mystery of how Prince got the drug and what happened in his final hours. Without definitive answers, it seems more and more likely that Prince could of been a casualty of what is being called a new national crisis of deadly counterfeit pills.
