A judge has ruled in favor of DMX, after being under house arrest, has been allowed to travel for work. But there’s a catch.
The New York Daily News report, Manhattan Federal judge Jed Rakoff gave him permission to travel in order to perform scheduled shows in Atlanta, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and Los Angeles in August and September. However, X must be accompanied by 24-hour sober coach while he’s on tour and pay for the services.
DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, had floated the sober coach idea to address any concerns about the rapper falling off the wagon. “We’re ecstatic about the court’s decision giving Mr. Simmons the opportunity to perform and continue his career,” he said.
DMX is currently on house arrest after failing several drug tests while awaiting trial for his tax evasion case. The veteran rapper tested positive for cocaine four times in less than four weeks and also tested positive twice for marijuana and opiates in his system as well.
