Legendary UGK member Bun B came through to the “Ed Lover Show” studio! He chatted with Ed Lover about when he and Pimp C released their first single, “Tell Me Something Good.” He recalls how they initially got radio play by entering into a contest for new artists on the local radio station in Houston. When they won, they were disqualified because they were already signed, but folks continued to request the song, so they had to continue playing it.

Bun B recalls working a record store, and when his record came out, he would recommend it to customers. He also reveals that they released their first single the same week that Kriss Kross‘ “Jump” was released. Although they were number one in the country, UGK was number one in Houston. This caused a bidding war with record labels, and Jive eventually won “by default,” Bun says. Click on the audio player to hear more from this exclusive interview from the “Ed Lover Show.”
