It’s almost been 30 years now and a movie we grew up with has a sequel in the works.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Paramount Pictures has hired Jonathan Levine to direct the sequel of Coming to America. Also added to the project is “Black-ish” creator and “Girls Trip” writer Kenya Barris and Eddie Murphy is expected to star in the upcoming movie, although no official deal is in place yet.
Earlier this year, Murphy’s Twitter account tweeted out a photo teasing a Coming to America 2. The photo was quickly deleted and led to the actor’s daughter, Bria, debunking the photo. Bria posted a screenshot of a conversation with her father where he revealed he didn’t even know he had a Twitter account.
Released in 1988, Coming to America starred Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley and John Amos and has since become a pop culture classic.
