Have you seen the new Spike Lee documentary featuring one of the greatest recording artist and performers?

Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall premieres on Showtime soon and the first trailer was made available last night.

People attending the Sundance Film Festival will be the first to see the documentary before it’s premiere on Showtime.

Lee’s tracking the in-between years of Jackson’s career, namely the period where he leapt from the Jackson 5’s prime into his adult solo career with the seminal Off the Wall. The Weeknd, David Byrne, and Questlove all appear in the trailer to talk about the album’s impact on their lives, and the full documentary includes interviews with everyone from Pharrell and John Legend to Kobe Bryant (!) and Misty Copeland. (Jackson’s parents and siblings also participate.)

Michael Jackson’s Journey is Lee’s second Jackson-centric documentary: he also directed Bad 25 in 2012, a film that celebrated the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s titular album. Also Lee directed Michael Jackson in his video for 1996 single “They Don’t Care About Us.”
The premiere of the documentary will be on Showtime on February 5th.
